National Test Speaking Preparation

Time to prepare for the national speaking tests!

In this blog post you will find different links where you can practice speaking and get familiar with the structure of the test.

On glosor.eu , if you use the username susles7812 and the password hello you will find a list of old topics of the national tests. These sets of words are called  "National test - Questions and answers" and "National test cards".

In these two sets of words on Quizlet you can practice discussion phrases: https://quizlet.com/239404359/discussion-words-flash-cards/  &
 https://quizlet.com/234736994/discussion-words-ii-flash-cards/

Here you can practice going through an old national speaking test.

1) Read the instructions on the page called "The World Around US" here: En_ak9_The_World_Around_Us.pdf  Do "Part One".

2) Pick a topic among the blue cards here: En_ak9_elevkort.pdf Read the statement aloud. Say if you agree or disagree —explain why and give examples. Ask your friend/s what they think and why.

3) Pick a topic among the red cards here: En_ak9_elevkort.pdf. Read the question aloud. Discuss your own opinions about the question —and also what other opinions there are.

English 09C: Wednesday 14.10-15.10

Hello!
I am sick at home today and am not sure who my sub teacher will be. Since I cannot listen to your presentations, you will start on your next project, English speaking countries. This schoolyear, you will study my favourite English speaking countries, the British Isles.

Here are your groups and what you will be working on (I drew lots):

Jon, Algot, Wilja, Mohamud - Northern Ireland
Livia, Tindra, Cornelia, Alicia - Scotland
Isabelle PH, Sigrid, Wilhelm - England
Maid, Arman, Elias - The Commonwealth (you will get different instructions on Teams)
Isabelle LJ, Zelda, Emilia - Queen Elizabeth II (you will get different instructions on Teams)
Wassim, Eldit, Belinay, Elona - Wales
Hedda, Hugo, Axel, Adam - The Republic of Ireland

First, you are going to watch this video: The British Isles - YouTube

Prepare an oral presentations about an English speaking country

            1. Open a new PowerPoint presentation. Share it with your group and teacher. Make sure everyone can edit.

            2. Choose information in English from the internet. For countries, my advice is that you to do a search on the English name of the country. "Scotland" for example. Click on the English wikipedia page about the country. Then choose information from the long sqaure to the right. You can also copy and use images from that square in your PowerPoint presentation.

            3. Write down key words in your PowerPoint slides about:

-          where the country is situated,

-      how big it is,

-          population and density,

-          information about the capital,

-         languages,

-          government and head of state,

-          other information that you find important or interesting (sports, music, movies, history etc.)

3. Compare your country to Sweden (what is different/similar?)

4. Choose pictures to go with the information in your PowerPoint presentation.

5. Choose a short video about the country (1-2 min.) to show the class.

6. Practice and let me know when you feel ready for your presentation (speak for 2 min. each)

7. Present your work!

Have fun! :)
